  1. I am planning a trip to Muro Lucano in June of this year. I’d like to see if there are any Serritella family members left. My grandfather was born in Muro in 1905. I don’t have his birth record.

  2. Hello,
I would like to find relatives of mine in Muro Lucano if they are still there . My grandfather was Joseph Discianni b 1898 and he was married to Josephine Cardone b 1900 A connection to either side would be great .
    Thank you
    Mike

    1. Hi Mike. In case you do not know about this, there are 13 trees submitted that include Joseph Discianni and Josephine Cardone. A tree by Michele actually gives the names of seven of the eight great grandparents of Josephine, and among the ancestors of Joseph Discianni, on the same tree there is a distant but definite connection with me through the Marolda family.

  3. Good morning. I’m trying to determine if my paternal grandfather had any siblings. He was born in Muro Lucano, Donato Carbonaro, in 1893. His parents were Giuseppe Carbonaro and Annamaria Lomonico.

  4. I am looking for any info on my grandparents, Vito Crusco 1875, married to Rosemarie Logrippo 1877. I believe my grandfather was born in Muro Lucano thanks, Francis

    1. Hi Francis,

I know the LoGrippo family is also native to Muro Luciano. I’m looking for further information on any branches. I don’t know anything about Rosemarie but I’m thinking she may have been a sister to my ancestor, Giuseppe. My great grandfather was also Giuseppe LoGrippo and he married Maria Gallucci, also from Muro Lucano.

    2. My grandfather, Francesco Crusco, had a brother Vito. My grandfather left Muro Lucano in early 1900 and settled in Philadelphia. One brother and three sisters came here also. I heard my family speak of Vito often.

  5. My great grandfather, Anthony Angelicchio was born in Muro Lucano around 1896. He moved to Herkimer, NY in the 1940’s or so and was married to Jennie (Geniveve) Colonna. They had 9 kids (including my grand father, Vito Anthony Angelicchio).

My grandfather, Louis Melucci, was born in July 1888 in Muro Lucano. He first lived in Trenton, New Jersey and finally settled in Haverstraw, New York. His father and mother were Antonio and Faustina. He had a brother, Nick, who immigrated to St. Louis, Missouri.

  7. Hello
I am trying to found the italian ancestors of my grand children. I found Francesco Cardone born in Muro Lucano on 16 dec 1880, his father Michale Cardone and mother Filamena Veraro. His first wife was Maria Rossi, they married and emigrated to the US. His second wife was Angelina Rendino born in ? Potenza. Any help to know more will be appreciated. Thanks

  8. Hello, I’m trying to find out about my fathers side of the family. My grandfather Vito Zarella emigrated I believe from Muro Lucano, in late 1800s or early 1900s to the US when he was 16 yrs old along with his brothers frank and Tony. Any one know of family by that last name still in Muro Lucano?
    Thank you!

    1. Hi Tony,
I believe our grandfathers were brothers. My grandfather, Frank Zarella (Francesco Zarriello) emigrated from Muro Lucano in May, 1904. He was 24. I was told that his 2 brothers, Tony and Victor (Antonio & Vito) came a bit later. He settled in Farrell, PA with his wife Rosemaria. I remember these great-uncles and their wives (Mary and Rose) fairly well, although I did not see them often. Do you live in that area? I have done some research on the Zarriello side of the family and traced their parents back 3 generations. I am not aware of any other family members in Muro Lucano. When my aunts visited Muro in the 1970’s and 1980’s they visited cousins on my grandmother’s side of the family. If you scroll down this page you will see my communication with someone who knew my aunts. I recall Uncle Victor had sons Al (Masury, OH) and Tony. I’m happy to share whatever info I have found. Write back and maybe we can continue our conversation via email. I live in Orlando, FL
      Your cousin (most likely), Claudia

      1. Hello Claudia,

My name is Kaylee and my father is Michael, the son of Dominic and Ann Zarella (New Jersey). I believe you and my father are cousins. I am also attempting to research and get as much information as possible about the Zariello side of the family.
        Thanks,
        Kaylee

        1. Hi Kaylee.
I haven’t checked this website in quite a while and I’m happy to see your message. I reached out to you just now so I hope to hear from you.
          Congratulations on your recent graduation.

          Claudia

      2. Claudia,
Yes that sounds accurate. My grandfather(Vito)was married to Rose(my grandma)he did have a brother named frank and one named Tony. Yes they lived in Farrell, Pa.
Victors son Tony, was my dad. 🙂
Al (Masury ,oh) was my uncle! please forgive my verryyy late response as I forgot I even posted that comment! But since then my parents have both passed away and I am very interested in connecting to my roots.

    2. hello my name is angela . i live on long island ny. born in the bronx… my grandfather was giuseppe cardone born in muro lucano. came to ellis island in approx 1915. got married to angelica and had 5 children that they raised in the bronx. any info or relatives please contact me. thank you in advance. angela

  9. I am trying to find information on the family of my great grandparents. They are Felix Zarriello (maybe 1st name Francesco). He was born 1883 or 1884. He married Catarina (Catherine) Vittello. They moved to America between 1910 and 1916. They had a couple of children already. My grandmother was born in the US (Albany, NY)… Antoinette Zarriello in 1917.

  10. Filomena Zaccardo born 1898 from Muro Lucano

I’ve searched both city and church records for my grandmother and cannot find her birth record. I found a ship record to Ellis Island that shows her with her siblings and her mother. Clearly states they are from Muro Lucano. I’m wondering if she was adopted. We’ve also checked records for Children of the Madonna too, to no avail. This has been a dead end and I’m hoping someone can help me!

    1. I am not familiar with Filomena Zaccardo but my grandmother’s sister, Beatrice (or possibly Brigida) Carbonaro (Carbonara) married Feliceantonio Zaccardo. My grandparents are from Muro Lucano – Francesco Zarriello and Rosemarie Carbonara Zarriello. He emigrated in 1904 and she followed in 1907 on the ship “Madonna.” They lived in Farrell, PA and never returned to Muro Lucano, although their daughters visited cousins there a few times. I know they had Zaccardo relatives in New York City.
I hope this helps. I have been searching for info on my great-aunt whom I always thought was named Beatrice, but find references only to Brigida Zaccardo. Maybe my grandmother had two sisters. I do not know.

      1. Hi Claudia,

I had to laugh when you wrote that your aunts visited Muro Lucano a few times. Josphine and Rose Zarriello were visiting there when I was there in 1971 and we had a nice rendezvous, because Josephine had been my second grade teacher.

I know a lot about Muro Lucano families and I have a DNA connection with your aunts–though I am not a Zarriello nor a Carbonaro, I am a Galella and Marolda descendant, and these families intermarried with yours three or four generations back.

Let’s discuss what your interests are and how I can help you.

        Sincerely,
        Jack

        1. Hi Jack,

I’ve replied twice and still have not heard from you. Please let me know how to continue our conversation. My family and I hope to visit Muro Lucano when it is safe to travel again.

          Grazie.
          Claudia

    2. Did you try the municipality building in muro lucano? If she was born there they would know. My greT grandfather was an orphan in muro lucano and we were able to find out that information and put our family tree together
