  1. Hi
My name is Terry Edwards. My grandfather was Pietro Casella born in Ceppomorelli 18th October 1889.Pietro left in 1910? and sailed to Australia
arriving in Febuary 1911.Pietro married my grandmother Elizabeth Stewart in
Wollongong 1918.Pietro died in an accident in Wallsend NSW September 1933.
My grandmother remarried and all correspondence ceased from Italy.I believe
that he also had close family that may have moved to the USA,some connection
with shoes?I would be most grateful for any help in finding any family and history
    Regards Terry

    1. Terry, I believe we are related. My great grandparents Dominico Casella and Angelina Balmetti were owners of a small shop in Ceppomorelli. Dominico was a violinist and died at the age of 91. Angelina died at the age of 45. They had three sons: Joseph (my grandfather) who was born March 5, 1883; I do not know the birth dates of Alfonso or Pietro (could he be your grandfather?). Our oral history states Pietro moved to Australia. Dominico & Angelina also had two daughters: Maria Casella Ranti and Catherine (Nina) Casella.

Joseph Casella immigrated to the USA aboard the vessel Province, from Havre, France. He arrived on February 23, 1907.

I will be happy to share more information if you believe we are indeed members of the same family.

      Best regards,
      Marilyn

      1. Hi Marilyn
Just read your message and it sounds very likely we have a match?
The names of great grandparents is what I had but wasn’t sure until you filled in the gaps.
My mother didn’t share any information, kept things close to her heart and passed away with all
family history with her, different and difficult times back then.
I guess you are in the USA?
Do we have any connection with shoes?
Did Alfonso stay in the USA or Canada?
Did Joseph marry Esther Desolina?your grandmother?
It seems like we may be related, I hope so.
Thank you for making contact and would love to keep talking.I’m most grateful and would love any info you would like to share
and like wise the same from me.
        Regards Terry
        Thanks again
