We went to San Lorenzo Bellizzi this past September and although we ( through our facilitator) contacted the municipality a few days prior to our visit, they were most uncooperative when we asked to see my great grandmother’s birth records. First we waited hours for the right city official to show up for work, then he refused to give us any information. When our facilitator insisted, he threatened to call the police. Finally our facilitator was able to quote the law which requires them to allow us to see the records. So after giving him copies of our passports he allowed me to photograph my grandmother and great grandmother’s birth records. It was a terrible ordeal.
