My name is Paula Manieri-Pignataro. I was born in San Martino D’Agri and have lived in Brooklyn since the age of 2. I’m now 55 years old. My paternal grandparents were Angela and Paul Manieri. My maternal grandparents were Annunziata and Mario DeFrino. My parents were named Carmela and Domenick Manieri (The best parents ever!). I have always loved traveling to San Martino D’Agri. It’s such a beautiful town. I will always treasure having met my ancestors. I know of several Biancullis and have kept in touch with them since they are my father’s first cousins. I recommend traveling to this beautiful town. It is filled with wonderful people and I’m proud to be a descendent of this Italian lineage.

    1. I think your in the right place with San Martino d’agri. My fathers mothers maiden name is Robertella/Robertello. Her name was Angelina and she was born in 1887. I found the record of her birth in that village’s records. From what I found she had brothers Fred, James, Joe, Anthony, and a sister Marie. I think her parents were Dominic and Theresa. My family was from Newark NJ.

      1. Thanks Pete-My last name in Robertella but my grandfather came to America and his ship manifest says Robertello. He lived in Lyndhurst new jersey most of his life and I know we had relitives by that name in Newark. Do you or any relatives recall relatives in Lyndhurst, especially Paul Robertello? My maiden name is Donna Maria Bianculli and my paternal grandmother and grandfather were born in San Martino d’Agri, Potenza Basilicata Region. My husband and want to travel there and find other Biancullis and I would also like to know more about the Bianculli people. His name was Rocco Bianculli, born around 1879, and my grandmother was Donata Bianculli, born around the same year and I believe her maiden name is Jacovino but I’m not sure.
