  1. Ida/Jennifer,
I am also looking for any Acolia’s remaining in Atella. I plan to make a trip there this year and would like to meet relatives if possible.

    1. Jeff,
Good luck on your journey. We were planning on visiting a few years ago. Now the visit is put off for a couple of years. Have you tried a Facebook group? I have joined a couple recently and they seem helpful. Please let us know about your trip! Several people in the Facebook group have had some issues with transportation. One said the best way is to fly through to Bari and then travel over. Some recommended Rome to Rio. I would be curious as to your approach.
      Ida

  2. I am searching for my grandfathers birth certificate. According to his military records Michele Chieca was born in Atella, Potenza in September, 1899. Father’s name was Giovanni Chieca, mother’s last name was Di Giovanni. Curiously neither last names are common in Atella. He immigrated to NY on September 1921 and his year of birth on that record is 1900. I have spend hours searching for his birth certificate online and it has been impossible to find.
Thinking baptism records might be a good source?

  3. Good Day,

  5. I have a copy of the Atti Di Matrimonio record showing my Grand Father
Pasquale Pisauro marring Rosina DeLellis, both from Atella Italy in December 1895. I would like to get a certified copy of this marriage
document……something from the Civil Records Office for Atella marriage records. Can someone advise where to contact the location of these official records and what the cost might be to have an official copy of their marriage sent to me in the U.S.

    1. Hello Marilyn, while looking at this site I recognized the name Rosina DeLellis who was a sister to my grandmother, Theodora DeLellis (emigrated to the US in 1919). However, I have a geneology chart (handwritten from my mothers cousin) which shows another Rosina DeLellis who married Pasquale Pisauro, this Rosina and Pasquale would be an aunt and uncle to my grandmother. My grandmother’s father, Michael DeLellis would be a brother to Rosina. Michael and Rosina had other siblings, Lucia, Amelia and Maria. Very interesting to find a distant relative this way!

  6. Ralph Offredo left Atella in 1905 for America. His mother Angelina came about 1910 presumably after the death of her husband Genaro (Jerry)

    1. Jennifer,

I am also looking for the Acolia family from Atella. I found Angelo Raffaele Acolia and Antonia Maria DiMura in the Mormon church records. My family came from Italy to Manhattan and then moved to Trenton, NJ about 1900.
Names include Acolia, Maddalena(from Piedmonte D’Alife), Sacco, DiMura, Salvatore, Sisti, Repole, Bonfanti, DaSilva, Lauterio, Iero, Zuczek.
