  1. My grandfather Giuseppe Ralph Mazzella was born on the Isle of Ponza April 25, 1886. He was born to Joseph mazzella and Rosa Califana. His father died when my grandfather was around 7. He had two younger sisters, Antoinette and Chevita. My grandfather came to Ellis Island in New York when he was 18 in 1905. He lost contact with his sisters and his mother had passed in Italy. My grandfather was a coal miner in the east coast throughout the states to New Mexico where he met his wife. His sister Antoinette moved to Chicago where she married Joe Piffo and had a daughter Angelina. His other sister Chevita who also married a mazzella and had one boy and lived in Buenos Aires Argentina. They were cattle ranchers.

  3. My grandfather was from Ponza, Francesco Salvatore Mazzella, he was born on 3/11/1892 Lola, Ponza, Italy. He was a sailor under commander Rizzo during WW1, married Anna De Rosa from Marano, she was born 7/28/1896 They immigrated to the United States aboard the Canopia arriving 4/28/1920 Boston, Mass .

  4. My grandfather was from Ponza and immigrated to Canada in the early 1900’s. I believe he was from a large family with surname Scotti (this may be anglicized since arriving in Canada). His given name was Giuseppe. He had several brothers, some of which also immigrated to North America. I am planning on visiting Ponza and am trying to determine if Scotti is a common name on Ponza and if there are any remaining relatives that still reside there. Any Scotti’s out there??
