  1. My grandfather Giacomo Conte left Minturno in 1905 for the US. His mother was a Conte and his father a Conte. Don Elio is a second cousin. His mother (Maria I think) was my dad’s cousin. The family, I understand had Olive orchards until WWII.
That is all I think I know.

My wife’s Grandmother’s brother was Canon Don Pasquale Alicandro, was a ordained Priest at the Chiesa di S Pietro Apostolo in Minturno at the time of his death on Gennio 30,1937.

He was born in Minturno on March 1, 1888.

We want to know if there are any records about his ordination, his activities, and his positions at this Cathedral–if any.

In addition, are there any records about where he lived in Minturno prior to becoming an Priest.

His sister, Vincenza Paula Alicandro, was Born January 22, 1875 in Minturno, and emigrated to the U.S. in 1903. We understand that her father was also Pasquale Alicandro and her mother was Maria Caruso. Can you determine if there are any descendants living in Minturno at this time–as a separate project. We would provide you with information on their other children.

    1. Hi, My family ( Paternal) is Alicandro. My grandfather was Geraldo Alicandro, his father was Vincenzo Alicandro and his father was Bernadino Alicandro.
The family originated in the Minturno ( was known as Traetto) and Scauri. My Alicandro. family had orange orchards and traded in Fondi. Eventually, family moved there. Apparently, pre-1861, the family were horse breeders, for the Republic of Naples.

  3. My Maternal great, great grandfather was Vincenzo Lia (born about 1840, his wife was Maria Limcola? (unsure of last name) and they lived in Minturno, Italy. It is said he owned a pharmacy, likely in Minturno. My grandmother Marietta aka Mary Lia (born 1891) was likely born there possibly at a hospital spelled something like St. Mari??oinfarta. I’m looking for any information that can be provided regarding the Lia family from this or surrounding towns. My grandmother married Barbato Arvonio from Cicciano, Italy around 1906 in Scranton, PA. Many Arvonio’s and Lia’s in that area.

Vincenzo had at least three children, Raphaela, Arturo and Alberto who all went to the U.S. in the late 1890s but there may have been other children who stayed in Italy.

Any help with information that you can direct me to will be appreciated.

      Hello Christy,
I’m a Fedele too and I wonder if we have a connection by chance?
My father, Joseph Fedele was born in Chicago, Ill. USA
His father Dominick Fedele(1900?) and mother Rose, I think they were from the Caserta/Minturno area… and they came to the USA via New York in 1921.

      1. I’m a Great Grandchild of Rose Fedele, her eldest daughter (Josephine Hrycej) is still living in the Chicago area. Grandma Hrycej was very good about keeping records and all sorts of interesting information about the family history. She would be a great source.

Dominick was from Minturno, as was his father Giuseppe Fedele. Giuseppe was married to Vincenza, but I’ve not found her maiden name just yet.

Giuseppe’s parents were Anthony Fedele and Antoinette Dimitri

I would appreciate knowing how I can continue my search of my family tree. Thank you.

    1. Hello, My grandfather’s last name was Pensiero, Giovanni Pensiero (John) who had a brother Frank. They both came to Philadelphia around 1920. They owned and ran a barber shop in Philadelphia for many years. My grandfather died in 1943. My grandmother was Alessandra Mallozzi who had a sister who lived in Santa Maria, Province Latina. Their daughter, Benedetta (Bessie) was their only child. I met some of my mother’s cousins while visiting in Italy with my parents. One of her cousins was Nicole Pensiero who had a brother, Giulio, a brother Luigi, and some other brothers.

I think the word you phonetically spelled in your note is the town of Scauri, a few miles from Minturno, on the coast. Very beautiful beach resort town in summer.

My mother, Benedetta Signore married my dad, Nunzio Signore, son of Daniel Signore, in Philadelphia in 1930.
