Wine (“vino”) in Italy is not just a consumer good, but rather a cultural asset. It’s a companion of our country for thousands of years (Italy’s wine heritage dates back some 4,000 years): a symbol of quality of life and comfort.
Multifarious climates and terrains favored vines of many different types and styles in the country: every region, every province owns different traditional wine-making practices.

Wine classification in Italy includes: DOCG, DOC and IGT wines. You can read here for the meaning of these acronyms.
