My Grandparents were from Melilli, my grandmothers maiden name was Lanza. My grandfather was DiMauro. I still have relatives there Rafala. I visited in 2018 but the town hall was not opened. I understand that my grandmothers relative was a war hero and is honored in the town hall. I know she lived near St. NICOLO CHURCH. I am from Middletown Ct and also visited St. Sebastian Church.

Nicola FAZZINO, (1885 Melilli – 1916 Middletown CT) who married Lucy ROSANO (1891 Melilli – 1982 East Haddam CT). He was the son of Sebastiano FAZZINO (1852 Melilli – ???) and Sebastiana VINCI (1854 Melilli – 1970 ??). She was the daughter of Frank Rosano (??-??) and Maria _____ (?-?). These are my daughter-in-law’s ancestors, and they are our Brick Wall.
Patricia, my step grandmother was Lucy Rosano she was married to Nicholas Fazzino in 1907. They had four children together. She was widowed in 1918 and married my grandfather (father’s father) Dominico Tringali. They had six children together. I have not researched more of the Fazzino family. I don’t know if the surname Tarallo exists anymore in Melilli, but my maternal grandmother was born in Melilli in1896. She was Genoefa Tarallo. She came to America at the age of 13 with her mother and father and a brother. They lived in Lawrence, Massachusetts, where she met and married my maternal grandfather, Salvatore Framiglio. The name Salemi also show up in my maternal ancestry. Giuseppa SALEMI was my great-great grandmother. She was married to Giovanni Barilla.
My Grandmother was Maria Lanz from Melilli, born around 1892. She Married Joseph Salemi (also from Melilli). Her older sister married a Fortuna and they also lived in Middletown. Another sister married a Russo. Most likely all the same family.

My grandfathers parents were Sebastiano Aresco and Angelina Damiata; and my grandmothers parents were Guiseppe Sapia and and Carolina Amenta. I am also related to Aresco. My great-grandfather was Mario Aresco. He married a Lucy Petrozillo. They also settled into Middletown, CT. Mario Aresco left Lucy and went back to Italy and married another woman. Lucy had a nervous breakdown and spent the rest of her life in an institution. Mario had a a sister Sebatastina that married into the Rubino family in Middletown,CT. I am trying to find more details about all of these people. I am looking for any information regarding my grand parents, Antonio (Anthony) Vecchitto and Maria Garofalo. Both were born in Melilli according to the records I have found. My grand father was born around 1889 and my grandmother was born in June 1893 and emigrated at the age of 15 to the U.S.. They both settled in Middletown, Ct. They were wed around 1910 and spent most of ther lives in Meriden, CT.. The ship manifest for my grandmother showed she would be staying with a cousin, Angela (Angelina) Garofalo in Middletown. My father’s mother came from Melilla. Her name was Angelina Bartolotta. She was born on Feb.8, 1889 to Sebastian’s Fazzino and Carmelo Bartolotta. She married Felipe Marino who came from Melilli to Middletown CT in 1905 from the hills above Melilli. He was the son of Francesco Marino and Maria Donia. He was born on May 9, 1884. I am looking for information on my grandparents. My grandfather was Emanuele Bordonaro born around 1878 in Meilli, Sicily. He settled on Broad Street in Middletown, Connecticut USA. He married Gaetana Fazzino, also born in Meilli, Sicily. They were married in St Sebastian Church in Middletown, Connecticut through an arranged marriage. They were age 17 and 35 at time of the marriage. They had 6 children. Anna, Salvatore, Mary, Michael, Joseph, and Albert all born in Middletown, Ct. Most of my aunts and uncles visited relatives in Melilli, Sicily in the past 50 years, but all these relatives of mine have now passed. The especially hard part has been finding the correct relatives of my grandfather Emanuele Bordonaro. His middle name was either Sabastian or Rafaelle.
St. Sebastian church in Middletown wasn’t built until 1931 so it’s likely that they were married at St. John’s Catholic Church on Main St.
