Church archives in Foggia province may store even older information. You will find religious records of the same events (births, marriages and deaths) but, most important, you could go further back in time!
So in case you would like to go back in centuries, it’s good for you to know that the parish registers in Foggia started during 1500!
They are far less accessible from abroad (and even not easy to browse and to read if you are not used and skilled) but our local genealogist can research the church archives of Vieste on your behalf.
In case you want to visit churches, these are the addresses of parishes active today in Vieste:
GESU’ BUON PASTORE – Via Don Tonino Bello
S. CROCE – Via Croce Santa
S. GIUSEPPE OPERAIO – Piazzetta San Giuseppe, 2
S. MARIA ASSUNTA – Via Cattedrale
S. MARIA DELLE GRAZIE – Piazza delle Grazie Madonna, 1
SS. SACRAMENTO – Piazzetta Cappuccini
Anyway for our experience, even if you plan to come here, we always suggest to start the research months before the arrival: in this way you will avoid to waste time in the offices or in the churches dealing with italian bureaucracy and you will have more free time to visit the town and surroundings on your ancestors footsteps, starting from the info gathered by our genealogists.
Another important source of information are the notary documents available to expert researchers in the State Archives.

Rafaelle Vescera was my great grandfather and his son Celestino was my grandfather. Celestino was born in 1895 I believe and came to America around 1907, alone. His entire family stayed behind in Vieste. His mothers name was Laura. Anything you could tell me about his family in Vieste
My great grandfathers older brother Vincenzo Giarrusso (born abt 1844) married ( Sept 15,1873) to Angela Maria Vescera in Vieste. Her father was Pietro Vescera and mother was Maria. Vincenzo and Angela’s son Leonardo Giarrusso (Born 1890) in Vieste went to Warren, Ohio in 1909 where I learned some Vescera also lived (Perhaps that was the reason he settled there?). Leonardo died in France Oct 1918 in WW1. He was first cousin to my grandfather also named Leonardo Giarrusso (born 1886 Vieste) who settled in Providence,RI. If you check in Warren,Ohio you will find Vescera whose ancestors are from Vieste there.
