Bari and its Province in the World!

Is it possible to know where descendants of Pugliesi emigrated from Bari Province are today?
After 150 years of emigration from Puglia, the answer is quite difficult.
At ItalianSide, working with statistical data about our readers, we tried to help to solve this problem.
We started from this point: if someone comes to our Internet Site looking for info about an Italian town, a village, family, genealogy, ancestry tours or tradition, it is because he is connected in some way with that town! Every month on we receive thousands of requests coming from all over the world, seeking info about these subjects in Puglia.
Of course this is only an attempt to map where Pugliesi from Bari are today:our experiment has no scientific foundation but it’s an empirical proof about the spread of Pugliesi in the world.
Would you like to see the map of the readers of interested in Bari Province? (it will be….surprising for you!)

Some useful info:
1) Please remember that it could take some seconds before markers are shown on the map (thousand of markers are plotted in real time!)
2) Map is updated daily: now it shows statistics from July 1, 2013 to yesterday.
3) At the moment the map shows only last 10000 entries in our statistics.
4) Only one marker is shown for each town in case more Pugliesi are in the same town.

My name is Nicki Castoro and my great grandparents Nicholas Castoro & Mary Carlucci are from Toritto. I am searching for thier documents and possibly realitives. It is an honor to be from there and I hope to connect with more realitives someday. I plan on someday visiting toritto and Bari and see the place my grandfather talks about in his diary.

My great grandparents live in New York City until they were too old to work they eventually moved to North Miami where they both passed away in the late 60s (Mary) and Nick in the 70’s.

My grandfather Angelo Castoro left me his diary and it is rich with his lifes work, loves, discriptions of the goings on from year to year until he passed away in 2003. I would love to share his word with you. He writes about visiting italy with his father, mother, brother and sister for 3 months in 1929. He loved spending time with his cousins vito and angelo. He forgot english and had to relearn it when he came back to the states.

My great grandparents had an ice business and my great uncle owned a buther shop in the upper east side on Manahttan. They did very well for themselves and the family.

I better stop now. Look forward to the connection with you all

    Thank you
