Church archives in Parma province may instead contain even older information, but they are far less accessible from abroad (and almost impossible by email).
Then,parishes send information not easily.

If you have the opportunity to visit Bedonia and Parma province, you could plan to investigate churches’ archives by yourself, but from abroad is very difficult to obtain any result unless you find a reliable local help.

In any case, never give up! Probably the distance from your country and Italy, some difficulties in understanding and in translation, could complicate your search but this should not discourage you.

The important thing is to have in mind a plan of actions to carry on with simple goals (eg. search for a single date of birth, family members, the date of a marriage, etc.)

My great grandfather Luigi/Louis Rossi was born 2-18-1887 in Italy and came to America in the early 1900’s where he lived in New York as a cook. He had two older sisters, Virginia and Guistina Rossi. His father was named Guiseppe Rossi (from the village of Pianasi, Italy on the other side of the Strela) and his mother Maria Rossi (abt 1857). Both of them are from two different Rossi clans/families as that is what my grandfather had told me. They had lived in Campiano in 1922 (Giuseppe and Maria). I was wanting to know if there was any information on them in Bedonia at all?

    Thank you

Our great-great grandfather Bernardo Agnetti (b. 1841) and his wife Maria (Zanelli) Agnetti (b.1844) came to the USA with their son Cesare in 1873. Their passports indicate that they were from Tornolo, Borgo Di Taro, region of the province of Parma. We see that there are still some Agnettis and Zanellis in Bedonia. How to we find out if any of them is related to Bernardo and Maria?

    Thank you for helping us!

    Marilyn (and her sister Jan)

      Hi Marilyn,
Not sure if you are the Marilyn I contacted in New York but to answer your question, yes. There are relatives of the Zanellis still in Bedonia that originated from Tornolo. I was there in July 2016 and reconnected with them. I’m trying to find information on my great grandfather Guiseppe Zanelli who is from Tornolo and wondering if your great great grandmother might be his sister or cousin, it would be the right time period. Do you know who her siblings were? I know that he traveled back and forth to New York and was in New with my grandmother ( his daughter in law in 1907) and then returned to Italy. He lived on the Costa di Borio then.

My grandmother was born Rosalinda Malucelli in 1893. She always said she was born in Newark, NJ but I recently saw a ship’s list of her arriving in New York with her parents, Luigi and Rosa in 1898. They list Bedonia as their last place of residence. Could you please let me know if there are any birth records for Rosalinda Malucelli in 1893?

  4. Elaine says:

I am posting this request again as my first request contained errors.
My grandfather was Joseph Rossi born Bedonia 1879. He married Julia Canivet born Froidchappelle, Belgium. They had 11 children, many of whom died young. His mother was a Patternotte.

Their daughter Zulmee Marie Julie was my grandmother and emigrated to New Zealand in 1919.

Any information about the Rossi Family would be welcomed.
