In September I am planning my first trip to Italy. One of the things I want to do while there is to visit Quindici as this is the town from which my family came.

My paternal grandfather was Antoinio Vitale. According to his death certificate (March 1, 1935) he was the son of Carmine and Mary Fiore and was born March 17, 1872. He immigrated to the United States in March of 1887 and arrived at the Port of New York. He lived in N.Y and married my grandmother, Maria Christine DeLeo (DiLio, D’Elia) in 1907. Between 1907 and 1908 the family moved to East Orange, New Jersey. They had 8 children, of which my father, Alfred, was born October 30, 1915. My father married Rose Florence French, I am their only child. I was born November 8, 1947. My father moved several times staying in NJ until he retired. At that time he and my mother moved to Florida where he died in 1986. I continued to live in NJ until I retired at which time my wife, Dorothy Ann Medvecky, and I moved to North Carolina,

I have been trying to research the family history but cannot find anything about my grandfather’s family. Is it likely that the Quindici City Registrar will be able to provide any information?. What are the names of the Roman Catholic churches in Quindici? Do you have any other suggestions for my research?
