i am helping my friend Fred Janacaro who is looking for records of Iannaccaro’s and Scalzo’s. Found a 1906 New York passenger list including Maria Filomena (Scalzo) Iannaccaro , wife, Federico Iannaccaro, son, and Vincenzo Iannaccaro, nephew, of Francesco Iannaccaro, who all last lived in Motta Santa Lucia. All going to meet Francesco in Uniontown, PA.
I wanted to pass along this information on the surnames you had mentioned who are found within my MASCARO family.
My gggf was FILIPPO MASCARO, born before 1776, died May 20, 1808, in Motta Santa Lucia (MSL), married CARMINA IANNACCARO, born before 1787, died after 1802.
I also have a cousin, MARIA “ELLA” CARMELA BLASCO (whose grandmother was a MASCARO), born July 16, 1892, in MSL, died October 25, 1942 in Jeannette, Westmoreland County, PA. She married FRANCESCO SCALZO April 01, 1909 in MSL, son of ROSARIO SCALZO and MARIA GENOVESE. FRANCESCO was born March 06, 1899 in Conflenti, Catanzaro, Calabria, Italy, died July 28, 1930 in PA from a black lung, from working in a coal mine.

My name is Rubens Caratta Macedo, I’m Brazilian, a descendant of DOMENICO ROBERTINI CARATTA, son of PAOLO CARATTA and MARIA ITRIA CARATTA. It appears that Domenico was born in Motta SANTA LUCIA, CATANZARO, CALÁBRIA, possibly on November 12, 1883 or 1889. It also states that he migrated to our country between the years of 1889 and 1907.

My Grandparents were from Motto, Francesco Fatino married Maria Carmela Maletta, they lived in Clarkdale/Centerville Ia. They had 10 children, Edward (Turk), Jennie, Frank (Ramsey), George, Tony *died @2yrs, Louis, Sam, Mary Lou and Venice who was married to Mateo A. Campopiano-Compiano,my parents,born in Lucito, Italy. Francesco Fatino had two brothers, Charlie and Mike. Mike married Lucy Maletta Maria’s (Mary)Maletta’s younger sister. Mike and his family of 11 lived and raised their children in Kansas City, Mo. Louise and Joseph Maletta were my grandparents. I went to Motto 2011 found some records but never any living relatives. Francesco Fatino, my grandfather’s father was Oarardo Fatino but his father was unknown. I believe he married Concetta Guigliani (not sure of spelling).

I have researched the families of Decollatura for decades. I can provide you with the history of your Saverio Adamo well into the 1700’s on all lines. His name is actually Francesco Saverio Adamo born 7 Jul 1853 in Adami (parish of Decollatura) to Luigi Adamo and Antonia Scalzo. He married Angela Pettinari 10 Aug 1908 in Decollatura. She was listed as parents unknown.

My great-grandfather was Giovanni Sirianni, born in Motta Santa Lucia. I don’t know the date, but 1860 wouldn’t be out of the question. He married Sevaria Marrazza (from Conflenti, also Calabria) and lived in Pennsylvania. I do have a photo of him. Question — you say he was born in 1860 but then indicate that he married in 1863 — what are the correct dates on that?
hello Lisa! I’ m sorry I don’t recall see your reply. I have my great-great grandfather John Sirianno (1860-1934?) and marrying Francesca Ferriaiuola 1886. I am not sure if that information is correct. He then left for America in 1890 without her. He went to Warren PA and marrying Gustina M. Nicoletti June 23, 1902.

My grandfather, Alessio Guzzi, lived in a small hamlet named Clarkdale, outside Centerville, Iowa. He was origanally from Motta. His Tezzano neighbor lived less than 50 ft from him. Also Giovanni Simon Maletta’s son Guissepe (Joseph) and his wife and children lived here to in Clarkdale. Their son, Giovanni Simon married my aunt. I would like to know how the Tezzano’s are related. Please contact me.
My grandfather was Pasquale Cortesio. His mother was a Serriani and they all were from Motta Santa Lucia. My grandfather (Pasquale) was born May 17, 1891 and moved to Clarkdale, Iowa when he was 14, to work in the coal mines. Many families from Motta Santa Lucia came here to work in the early 1900’s.
I would like to know more about my grandfathers parents and also my Grandmother, Thomasina Mageni “Maggie” Mitchell, born in the USA, but of Italian descent. I believe my grandmothers parents were also from Motta Santa Lucia, however they immigrated to Pennsylvania. Somehow, my grandfather in Clarkdale, Iowa and my grandmother from Pennsylvania ended up marrying in Iowa where they raised a large family.

My great grandmother was Louise Villella , I believe she was from Motta as that is where my Grandmother was from. Louise married Joseph Maletta and my grandmother (Parma) was born in 1898.They came to the states in 1909 and ended up in Clarkdale Ia after a short stay in Pennsylvania,
