Ciao! I am looking for birth records prior to 1816 in San Fele. Family name is Torrone. Specifically I am looking for records pertaining to Donatantonio Torrone, parents were Bartolomeo Torrone and Lucia Carnevale.
Do you know what parish records are available for San Fele? I would imagine there are only a few. Grazie!

Searching my grandfather’s line… I was always told that their name “Vernot” had been shortened from “Vernotico”. I can’t seem to find Vernotico listed on any database of names in the area? Anthony Daniel Vernot was born 1886 in San Fele (as stated on his naturalization records). Any help is appreciated for “Vernotico”…thanks!

    • Tony says:

I looked through the 1886 births in San Fele and did not find anyone with names similar to Vernotico. I did find a Pietrantonio (Peter Anthony) Botanico listed with the foundlings born in 1885. It is record # 3 dated February 5, 1885 in the 2nd part of the birth listings.

I Hello. I am researching my husband’s family. I believe his 2nd and 3rd great grandparents immigrated to the US from San Fele. His 2nd great grandparents were Michael Angelo Pulone born 1861 and Theadora Magrinna born 1870. His 3rd great grandparents were Pietro Pulone born 1835 and Lucia Gilardo born 1837. I have reached a dead end and have gotten no farther than this. I would welcome any information you may have regarding any of these 3 family names.

I am looking at the 1835 “atto di nascita” for San Fele and don’t see Pietro Pulone, but the surname does appear on the San Fele list of common surnames. Can’t find an birth of Lucia Gailardo in 1837 either. Do you perhaps have a marriage date for the 3nd great grandparents?

I’ll be visiting San Fele next month, October 2014. My grandmother, Maria Rubino, emigrated to Brooklyn from there. I’ll be trying to find any Rubino or Colangelo relatives.
