Another important source of information is the “Archivio di Stato” (National archive) in L’Aquila.

In any case, never give up! Probably the distance from your country and Italy, some difficulties in understanding and in translation, could complicate your search but this should not discourage you.

It’s important to plan your activities to carry on with simple goals (eg. search for a single date of birth, the name of an ancestor, the date of a marriage, etc.)

I am currently trying to locate my Great Grandmother’s birth certificate. I traveled to Palombaro back in 2012 and was able to retrieve my Great Grandfather’s birth certificate, and his marriage certificate. I am now trying to get my Great Grandmother’ birth certificate as I am beginning the process of acquiring Italian Citizenship. When i was in Palombaro I met the mayor and she helped me retrieve some records and I believe the birth certificate I am looking for is located in the municipality in Palombaro. Her name is Maria DiVitis and she was born on October 8 1867. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
