Italian migration: an award winning documentary from Italian TV (part 1-2)

Here are the first two parts of an Italian documentary about Italians in the world. (Next parts are here ).
It’s from Italian TV and it’s subtitled in English for easier understanding.
This film was honored with presigious awards in Italy (as “Premio Flaiano”).

It traces the history of Italian migration with many vintage movies, shot in Italy and in other countries where Italians have emigrated.

It’s very touching to see through our eyes of the twenty-first century, the journey made by these men and women to have a better future for themselves and their children.

A difficult journey for us too, but that was truly impossible even to imagine for people who had only ever lived in the same towns for centuries.
I do not know if we will never understand how a trip like this could be extraordinary and disruptive to our ancestors.

In the 150th anniversary of the Italian unification, this is our tribute to all those who have left Italy but have not forgotten their roots.

A grateful remembrance towards those who went away from Italy with only a small suitcase, but who has been able to bring along and pass on the love for their country and making you feel a little Italian inside.

And if you are in this website, looking for your link with your Italian past, it means that your “Italian side” still exists.
